Monday is Lightning Awareness Day

Monday starts Severe Weather Awareness Week in Florida. Monday will focus on lightning with Lightning Awareness Day. In 2004 eight people in Florida were struck by lightning but no one was killed. This was the first time since 1970 that there were no known lightning deaths in Florida.

Duran Duran Concert

Ok, so this is very delayed but I have to pass along that Duran Duran in concert is well worth the time. Of course you have to like the band and 80s music, it was great to see the orginal line-up and this is coming from a huge fan.

They played a wide array of selections, from tracks from the current album to semi-obscure album tracks. In Sunrise, Flrorida at the Office Depot Center they performed the following songs:

Survivor and more

I know I was to post a few words about the Duran Duran concert last Friday and the Renaissance Festival that is currently going on in Deerfield but I have not done that yet. I will have posts on both of them by Saturday, so please check back.

Survivor is back and this is going to be a great season. Actually this season has a lot of potential to be as great as Australia. In the first episode we lost three already.

It's been a week

Funny how much you want to do something, sometimes you still do not make time for it. Like this blog.

Anyhow, busy couple of days coming up. Friday night I'm going to see Duran Duran in concert. This will be my fourth time seeing the group but the first time with all of the original members. I know this is going to be great.

Then on Saturday I plan on going to the Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach. It is fun to be immersed in the 1500's. The food is very tasty and the weather should be fantastic, mostly clear with a high around 70F.

You will read more about these two "events" over the next couple of days.

Sidekick II

A few weeks ago I bought a Sidekick II. This is a phone that does everything such as web surfing and emailing. Though I was excited about this device I was also curious if it would do everything it should.

For email it is perfect. It has a QWERTY keyboard that works well with my fingers along with an "always on" platform I am able to respond to email soon after it is sent. The screen is large enough that you do not have to squint.

Surfing the web is good, at times very, very slow but not bad when you do not have a computer around.

Though it is a phone, I have not used it for that. I have a Nextel which I love, but not for internet/email applications. That will have to be another post.

I will set up a full review on the web site about the Sidekick II soon to give full details about what a great device it is.
