ZETA! 2005 Season will end with this one

This will probably be the last post of this great hurricane season. Zeta did for this afternoon about 1000 miles southeast of the Azores. Though not unheard of before but having one last storm this late in the season is appropriate this year.

Zeta is the 30th system to be classified a depression or greater and the 27th named storm. 13 went on to be hurricanes and 7 of those were category three or stronger. This is liken have three years of systems in one. Zeta ties the record for the latest forming system of any year.

Zeta will not affect land and already shows signs of weakening. If I can I will post an update tomorrow. If not, in the next week or so I will have a major update on the how-the-weather.com site which I am slowly working on.

Happy New Year and please be safe going into 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Epsilon becomes 14th Hurricane

Here we are December 2 and we have a hurricane. Granted not that surprisong given this season, but Epsilon was able to travel over warmer waters since yesterday giving it just enough fuel to become #14.

Epsilon will begin to weaken today and become extratropical by Sunday. No threat to land.

Any takers for Zeta???
