Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert
Looks like we may have a depression forming off the east coast of
Florida in the next 18 hours.
While we are waiting to see if TD2 developes we are becoming more
certain about south Florida's rain chance this weekend. Starting late
tomorrow morning we will see numerous showers and thunderstomrs through
Monday sometime.
More in the morning.
Looks like the area of low pressure around the Bahamas is starting to
slowly come together. A tropical system could be announced tonight or
tomorrow.
Early models take the system to central/north Florida and to the North
Carolina outer banks.
I am keeping an eye on the area of disturbed weather near tha Bahamas.
The system should move slowly towards the northwest. Though upper level
winds are strong now they are expected to relax some as we get closer to
the weekend.
Alberto's center will come ashore on Tuesday. As of now the worst seems
to be on shore the west coast at this time. The southwesterly shear and
dry air intrusion has disrupted the western half of Alberto. So we
should not see any further increase in strength. The burst of
convection this morning was impressive with a 9mb drop in pressure in 9
hours.
We did see the first hurricane warnings today which is early on average
and we will soon see if Alberto sets the pace for this season.
Tropical Depression 1 formed earlier today. The system is expected to
develop into a tropical storm later tonight or tomorrow.
The forcast is for the system to move towards the north then northeast
coming ashore near Clearwater as a tropical storm Monday/early Tuesday.
South Florida should only experience heavy rain and breezy conditions.
I am expecting the NHC to initiate advisories at 11am for TD1. We
should see some tropical storm effects in Florida and I will have more
details around 11.
There is an area of disturbed weather near the Yucatan pennisula that has a slight rotation to it. This area should move north over the next 48 hours and when it gets to the Gulf upper level conditions could be favorable for development.
There is a wide spread in the models if the system were to develop so we will watch. The season begins...
Those who personally know me understands my love for my Sidekick II. This is a mobile internet device and phone that allow me to get the weather information I need/want whenever I desire. It is the greatest device.
Tonight I was reading on slashdot about a person who lost their Sidekick in a cab in NY. They have noted the whole story which is currently on going. It is great reading so please check it out at:

Keep our fingers crossed that the right thing happens...
